SUBSEA
TECH Unveils a new USV for above and under water surveillance and reconnaissance
Subsea
Tech, a designer, manufacturer and supplier of marine and underwater
intervention and instrumentation systems unveiled at Milipol 2013 (the
International Exhibition of Internal State Security which was held in
Paris from November 19 – 22, 2013) the CAT-Surveyor, an Unmanned
Surface Vessel (USV) designed for inland and harbor waters reconnaissance.
The CAT-Surveyor weighs 270 kg (without payload) and is 300 cm long
and 160 cm wide.

The
CAT-Surveyor is a catamaran type USV, with tele-operated or automatic
navigation mode, allowing hydrographic data acquisition or underwater
port and inland waters surveillance.
This USV has the unique capability of deploying a mini-ROV such as Subsea
Tech’s “Observer” which comes with high definition
cameras and optional imaging sonar for turbid waters.
With its open architecture and high-speed PC to PC communication the
system allows to easily integrate and deploy mission-specific tools
such as video cameras, side scan sonars, multibeam sonars, acoustic
cameras, sediment sounders, magnetometers, physico-chemical sensors.
Its payload is 80 kg and its endurance is twelve hours.
The onshore pilot station allows visualizing and real-time controlling
of all embedded software features through a Wifi link.
