French Navy Aquitaine-class FREMM Frigate Languedoc Started her Long Cruise in the Arctic
 
On 12 August 2016, the FREMM frigate Languedoc, the latest addition to the French Navy (Marine Nationale) fleet departed Toulon naval base for her long cruise. The long cruise is the last long deployment period of the vessel before it achieves "active duty" status. For her long cruise, Languedoc is sailing to the North Atlantic and eventually in the Arctic region. Languedoc is the third frigate of the Aquitaine-class for the French Navy.

Keels of Two Project 23040G Survey Boats laid for Russian Navy
 
The Nizhegorodsky teplokhod shipyard in Nizhny Novgorod laid the keels of two big survey boats of project 23040G for the Russian Navy, the press service of the defense ministry said. "The boats are scheduled to be handed over to the Russian Navy after all tests in 2017. Another four boats, two a year, will be built in 2017 and 2018," it said. The keel laying ceremony was attended by Captain 1st rank Sergei Travin, the head of the navigation and oceanography department of the Russian defense ministry.

Pakistan Navy New Fleet Tanker Launched by Karachi Shipyard & Turkey's STM
 
A new Fleet Tanker for the Pakistan Navy (PN) was launched today by Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works Limited (KS&EW) in Karachi. Construction of the vessel was started on 27 November 2013 with steel cutting and subsequently keel laying was performed on 7 March 2014. The design of the Fleet Tanker is from Turkey's STM, while the tanker itself was built in Pakistan.

The experiment explored, analyzed and documented the characteristics of operating a detachment of MV-22s for the carrier strike group as a replacement for the Navy's C-2A Greyhound carrier on-board delivery (COD) platform.

The demonstration, dubbed Hell Bay 4, will see a variety of unmanned underwater, surface and air vehicles working co-operatively within a number of squads, autonomously undertaking mine countermeasures missions.

The Philippine Coast Guard formally received the first multi-role response vessel BRP Tubbataha from the Japan Government today after her Arrival and Blessing Ceremony at the Headquarters Coast Guard Ready Force, Pier 13, South Harbor in Manila at 9am. The 44-meter vessel was named after Lighthouse Tubbataha which is located in Tubbataha Marine National Park, Palawan.

Leonardo-Finmeccanica announced an order for additional two AW139 intermediate twin helicopters by the Italian Coast Guard. This latest contract will increase the customer’s fleet of AW139s to twelve. The AW139s will be used to perform a range of missions including maritime patrol, search and rescue (SAR), and emergency medical services. The latest order also includes options for a further two helicopters.

Raytheon receives first contract to build Naval Strike Missile launchers in the US
 
Raytheon Company has received an initial contract to produce Naval Strike Missile (NSM) launchers at its production facility here. The deal ushers in U.S. manufacturing of the Norwegian-developed weapon system. Kongsberg Defence Systems awarded the initial contract for qualification units. The award follows a July announcement that Raytheon will produce NSM launchers in the U.S. The company also plans to perform final assembly, integration and test of the Naval Strike Missile at Raytheon's Tucson, Arizona facility.
