Russia's Third Project 11356 Frigate Admiral Makarov Started Sea Trials in Baltic Sea
 
The Project 11356 frigate Admiral Makarov built at the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad in west Russia sailed to the Baltic sea for the first time to conduct sea trials, according to the press department of the shipyard (a subsidiary of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, Russian acronym: OSK).

"The 'Admiral Makarov' frigate stationed in Baltiysk has gone to the Baltic sea to be tested under the sea trials program," a spokesperson from the Baltic Shipyard said.

The crew and the fleet introduction team are going to conduct the tests of the ship`s systems/subsystems, the main propulsion plant, the communications suite, the navigation system, and other pieces of naval equipment.
The 'Admiral Makarov' frigate was laid down at the Baltic Shipyard on February 29, 2012. The ship was launched on September 2, 2015. The Russian Navy is supposed to get the surface combatant in the 3rd quarter of 2016.

The Baltic Shipyard is building a series of the Project 11356 frigates intended for the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD). The type ship, namely 'Admiral Grigorovich' was delivered to the customer on March 11, 2016. The Navy has commissioned the second Project 11356 frigate, namely 'Admiral Essen' on June 7, 2016.

The Project 11356 frigate has a full displacement of 4,035 t, a length of 124.8 m, a width of 15,2 m, a draft of 4.2 m, a cruise speed of 30 kt, an endurance of 30 days (or 4,850 miles), and a crew of 180 sailors. The ship is powered by two gas-turbine engines (30,450 h.p. each). The frigate is armed with 3M-54K/3M-14K Kalibr anti-ship/land-attack missiles (SS-N-27 Sizzler), one 100mm A-190 naval gun, two AK-630M close-in weapon systems (CIWS), the Shtil-1 (SA-N-7C Gollum) naval surface-to-air (SAM) missile system with 36 SAMs, and two twin 533mm torpedo launchers.

Previously, the Indian Navy (IN) received six Talwar frigates based on the Project 11356 ship.
