Russian Navy receives more than 100 Kalibr & Oniks cruise missiles in Q3/2016
 
The Russian Navy has accepted over 100 Kalibr (NATO reporting name: SS-N-27 Sizzler) and Oniks (SS-N-26 Strobile) guided missiles, vessels and land-based missile systems in the third quarter of this year, Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov said during the single materiel acceptance day.
     
The Russian Navy has taken delivery of almost 50 Kalibr (NATO reporting name: SS-N-27 Sizzler) cruise missiles, 72 surface-to-air missiles and a Gamma-S1M radar during the first six months of the year, Russian Armed Forces Chief of Armament Anatoly Gulyayev said on the Common Military Equipment Acceptance Day.
The Buyan-M Corvette "Uglich" launches a 3M-54 Kalibr anti-ship missile during maneuvers in the Caspian Sea.
     
"More than 100 missiles of the Kalibr system and antiship missiles of the Oniks system have been accepted for the Navy," Borisov said.

In addition, a Project 22870 rescue vessel, four Project 02690 self-propelled floating cranes have been received for the Navy and Bal (SS-C-6 Sennight) and Bastion (SS-C-5 Stooge) coastal defense missile systems for the Western Military District," Borisov added.

Last year, Kalibr missiles were used as part of Russian operation against the Russia-banned Islamic State terrorist group in Syria. The missiles were fired by the Rostov-on-Don submarine from the Mediterranean and by Caspian Flotilla ships as well.
