Thanks to advanced simulation technology from Rheinmetall, ground personnel of the German Navy’s new NH90 NTH Sea Lion helicopter are already able to start training. Back in mid-June of this year, Rheinmetall Electronics GmbH handed over the Functional Cockpit, an integral part of the Maintenance and Repair Trainer for the NH90 Naval Transport Helicopter (NTH). Rheinmetall developed the Functional Cockpit based on the Group’s in-house Asterion product line.

Northrop Grumman Corporation marked a significant milestone with the delivery of its 1000th AGM-88E Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile (AARGM). AARGM is a supersonic, air-launched tactical missile system, with the mission of destroying enemy air defences, ensuring freedom of manoeuvre. AARGM is a U.S. Department of the Navy and Italian Air Force International Cooperative Program.

The Italian Navy LSS “Vulcano” logistics support ship, named after one of the Eolian Islands North of Sicily, had her First Sea Going on 5th December 2019, logging her first nautical miles in the Gulf of La Spezia. This step of the program is a key contractual milestone towards the delivery of the ship to the Italian Navy (FOAR), scheduled for September 2020.

The Russian Black Sea Fleet’s Project 11356 Admiral Essen Grigorovich class frigate has fired its Kalibr (NATO reporting name: SS-N-27 Sizzler) missile system against a coastal target under the combat training program, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press office said. The exercise was held at a training range in the Black Sea, the press office added.

Indra has signed a contract with the US company Lockheed Martin to supply the main components of the AESA (Active Electronically scanned Arrays)S-band anti-air warfare radar antenna of the future F110, one of the sensors that will make this frigate one of the most advanced of its kind in the world. The value of the contract amounts to over €150 million and will last for 7 years.

Damen Shipyards Group signed a Damen Technical Cooperation (DTC) contract with Cotecmar during ExpoDefensa 2019 in Bogota. The contract will see DTC provide design, engineering and technical assistance for the construction of a Scientific Marine Research Vessel (Buque de Investigación Científico Marina (BICM)).
