General Dynamics Electric Boat Friday, April 17, 2020, delivered the nuclear-powered attack submarine Vermont (SSN 792) to the U.S. Navy. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD). Vermont Virginia-class is a nuclear-powered cruise missile fast-attack submarines, currently in the military service in the United States Navy.

The Russian Pacific fleet held large-scale maneuvers of the surface forces. A Buyan-class corvette of project 21630 will debut at the main Navy parade in the summer of 2020. The warship of the Caspian flotilla is identical to Buyan-M-class project 21631 but carries no missiles. The U.S. State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Morocco of 10 AGM-84L Harpoon Block II Air-Launched missiles and related equipment for an estimated cost of $62 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on 14 April.

The aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) concluded its first-ever Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) carrier qualifications (CQ) for Naval aviators while underway in the Atlantic Ocean, April 4. “For the first time ever, this ship conducted carrier qualifications for two fleet replacement squadrons and generated readiness for the fleet,” said Capt. J. J. Cummings, USS Gerald Ford’s commanding officer.

Israeli Company Elbit Systems Ltd. announced on April 14, 2020, the successful integration of the Towed Reelable Active Passive Sonar (TRAPS) for Unmanned Surface Vessels (TRAPS-USV) onboard the Company’s Seagull USV. The sea trials included multiple deployment and recovery cycles, towing at different speeds and transmission at various power levels.

The U.S. State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of India of 16 MK 54 All Up Round Lightweight Torpedoes (LWT); 3 MK 54 Exercise Torpedoes (MK 54 LWT Kit procurement required); and related equipment for an estimated cost of $63 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on 13 April.
