The state trials took place in Kola Bay and the Barents Sea for two weeks, the press office added. “During the trials, work was carried out to check the vessel’s speed performance and seaworthiness, the operation of its cargo-handling device and hydrographic weapons and assess its ability to house navigational equipment. The scow was tested as well,” the press office said.

The tests in the Barents Sea lasted four days. According to Northern Fleet hydrographers, the vessel accomplished all the assigned missions well. The acceptance report was signed by chairman of the acceptance commission Captain 1st Rank Andrei Egorov and vessel captain Nikolai Iotsu.

The flag-raising ceremony will be timed to one of the forthcoming holidays or memorable events. The Project 19910 small hydrographic vessel Nikolai Skosyrev is designed to carry out hydrographic survey and service navigational equipment in the Arctic.

The vessel has a displacement of about 1,000 tons, a range of about 2,000 miles, and a cruising capacity of 15-25 days. The vessel has an ice-class hull, which makes it possible to sail in waters with 80 cm thick open ice without icebreaker assistance.

The vessel’s main mission is to set up and remove navigational sea buoys of all types, inspect, recharge and repair coastal and floating navigational equipment, carry out a hydrographic survey, and transport various cargoes for the operation of coastal navigational equipment and hydrographic units on unequipped coast.

The vessel has a length of about 60 meters, a width of 11 meters, a hull height of more than 5 meters, a range of about 3,500 miles, and a cruising capacity of 25 days. Its crew totals 22.
