Navy Forces Naval Maritime Defense Security Industry


According to a statement released by the British Ministry of Defense (MoD) on January 19, 2021, British MoD has announced a £25m contract for the purchase of three SWEEP autonomous minesweeping systems. The Combined Influence Minesweeping (SWEEP) system designed by Atlas Elektronik UK, will be the British Royal Navy’s first uncrewed minesweeper. 

According to a statement released by the U.S. Department of Defense on January 19, 2021, Acting U.S. Secretary of Defense Christopher C. Miller and UK Secretary of State for Defense Ben Wallace have co-signed the Joint Declaration for the Carrier Strike Group 2021 deployment, led by the British Navy aircraft carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth.

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is working with Leonardo to integrate the Leonardo Seaspray 7500E V2 radar into the centerline radar pod of its MQ-9B SeaGuardian remotely-piloted aircraft system (RPAS). The integration of this market-leading radar onto the SeaGuardian will enable persistent maritime ISR and is available to our international customer base.

The German Navy is once again counting on simulation expertise from Rheinmetall when it comes to training its NH90 NTH Sea Lion helicopter crews. In December 2020 the European NH90 procurement and management organization, NAHEMA, awarded the company an order for an Asterion classroom solution destined for Naval Air Wing 3 at Nordholz on the North Sea coast. Delivery will take place later this year.

According to a press release published on January 14, 2020, Teledyne Technologies Incorporated announced that its subsidiary, Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc., was awarded an $18 million contract from Northrop Grumman to manufacture four additional Surface-to-Surface Missile Module (SSMM) units for the U.S. Navy's Littoral Combat Ship (LCS).

A £550 million contract for new surface-attack missiles will secure hundreds of UK jobs and provide unrivalled lethality for the UK’s F-35B Lightning jets, Defence Minister Jeremy Quin announced.

 

According to information published by the Chinese Ministry Of Defense on January 2021, China’s first local-made 10,000-ton class law enforcement and maritime patrol vessel, Haixun 09, will be officially commissioned by the middle of this year, said Lin Kui, deputy director of the Guangdong China Maritime Safety Administration (MSA), at a Guangdong provincial government press conference on January 12, 2021.
