China has commissioned Haixun 09 10,000 tones patrol class vessel


According to information released by the Chinese Ministry of Defense on October 23, 2021, China has commissioned its first 10,000 tones class vessel, Haixun 09 in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. The new ship will be used to boost maritime patrolling and law enforcement.

China's largest official law enforcement vessel with advanced equipment and all-around capability has officially started its service. The ship is also used for emergency coordination and command and the prevention and control of shipping pollution.

The Haixun 09 patrol vessel was launched in September 2020. The ship attached to the Guangdong China MSA (Maritime Safety Administration), will be responsible for maritime patrol and law enforcement, emergency coordination and command, and prevention and control of ship pollution.

Designed and built by China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, the Haixun 09 is currently the heaviest public service ship with the most advanced equipment in the world. It is also China's first large smart vessel for public service.

The Maritime Safety Administration of the People's Republic of China is a government agency that administers all matters related to maritime and shipping safety, including the supervision of maritime traffic safety and security, prevention of pollution from ships, inspection of ships and offshore facilities, navigational safety measures (including Search and Rescue, Aids to Navigation and the GMDSS), administrative management of port operations, and law enforcement on matters of maritime safety law. It was also responsible for marine accident investigations.

The Haixun 09 has a length of 165 m, a width of 20.6 m and a depth of 9.5 m, and a displacement of 13,000 tones. The ship will be able to reach a top speed of 25 knots (46 km/h).

The Haixun 09 is able to carry multiple types of helicopters and is capable of life-saving and search operations in anywhere except the Polar Regions. The vessel also has a marine data center equipped with various communication means and connected with multiple satellite systems, including Beidou.
