Russia sends five warships near Japanese Island Hokkaido.

According to a tweet published by Ryan Chan on June 10, 2022, five Russian ships (destroyer Marshal Shaposhnikov, and corvettes Gremyashchiy, Sovershennyy, Gromkiy, Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov) are operating in the southeastern waters of the Japanese Island of Hokkaido.

Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov is a Steregushchiy-class corvette of the Russian Navy. Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov was laid down on 22 July 2015 and launched on 12 September 2019 by Amur Shipyard in Komsomolsk. She was commissioned on 25 December 2020.

The Steregushchiy class, Russian designation Project 20380, is a class of corvettes being built for the Russian Navy. Designed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau, subsequent vessels were built to an improved design (Project 20381), incorporating the Zaslon-Redut SAM system.

The Steregushchiy-class corvettes have a steel hull and composite material superstructure, with a bulbous bow and nine watertight subdivisions. They have a combined bridge and command center, and space and weight provision for eight SS-N-25 missiles.

For anti-submarine warfare, the Project 20380 corvettes are equipped with two 4-tube launchers of the Paket-NK ASW system that is a dual-mode acoustic torpedo.

The corvettes have a displacement of 1800 tons, a total of 2220 tons. The length is the largest at 104.5 meters, width 13 meters, and maximum draft of 7.95 meters. It has a maximum speed of 27 knots and has a cruising range of 4000 miles.

Hokkaido is the northernmost of the four main islands of Japan. It is bordered by the Sea of Japan (East Sea) to the west, the Sea of Okhotsk to the north, and the Pacific Ocean to the east and south.
