Russia reportedly used Kh-22 anti-ship missiles to target a Ukrainian building.

According to information published by MSN on January 16, 2023, the Russian Kh-22 missile was used for the bombing of a high-rise apartment building in Dnipro.

The Kh-22 (NATO designation AS-4 'Kitchen') is a Soviet-designed, long-range, air-to-surface missile. It was primarily intended as an anti-ship missile, but could also be used against ground targets.

The missile has a range of up to 400 km and can carry a conventional or nuclear warhead. It was developed in the 1960s and was used by the Soviet Air Force and Navy for anti-ship and land attack missions.

The AS-4 Kitchen was designed to be launched from the Tupolev Tu-22M bomber, and was also adapted for use on the Tu-22KD naval strike aircraft. It has a maximum speed of mach 3.5 and can reach an altitude of 50 km.

It can be guided by radar or inertial navigation system and is equipped with a penetration aid to evade enemy defenses. It has been in service since 1970s and was used by the Soviet Air Force and Navy.

The Kh-22 missile is approximately 7 meters (23 feet) in length and has a diameter of 0.8 meters (2.6 feet). It has a launch weight of around 5,500 kg (12,000 lbs) and is equipped with a solid-fuel rocket motor.
