Following Modernization Severnaya Verf Shipyard Will Build Project 23560 Leader Class Destroyers
 
Following modernization, the Severnaya Verf Joint-Stock Company /Northern Shipyard, incorporated by the United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC/ will be able to build advanced Project 23560 /codename Leader/ destroyers and, if some conditions are met, even an aircraft carrier for the Russian Navy, USC President Aleksei Rkhmanov said at the opening ceremony of the facility reconstruction.

Navantia Completes the Lengthening of Four Spanish Navy S-80 class Submarines
 
The first step to ensure that the four Spanish Navy S-80 class diesel-electric submarines (SSK) can float has been completed at the Navantia shipyard of Cartagena. The information comes from Spanish daily newspaper La Verdad. Each submarine has been stretched with a 10 meters ring to better distribute the weight of the submarine and prevent it from sinking.

Fincantieri to Collaborate with Indian Shipyards MDL and GRSE on P-17A Stealth Frigate Project
 
Fincantieri has signed a contract with Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL), one of the most important Indian shipyards, controlled by the Ministry of Defence and specialized in the building of naval and offshore units, to provide technical advice within the Project 17A. This project envisages the construction of 7 stealth frigates ordered this year in February by the Indian Navy to the two shipyards MDL and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE). This important agreement allows the group to establish a long-term cooperation with the two shipyards and to consolidate its commercial presence in the country.

The launching ceremony of the frigate “Luigi Rizzo”, the sixth of a series of 10 FREMM vessels - Multi Mission European Frigates – took place today at the Riva Trigoso shipyard (Genoa). The 10 FREMM vessels have been commissioned to Fincantieri by the Italian Navy within the framework of an Italo-French cooperation program under the coordination of OCCAR (Organisation Conjointe de Cooperation sur l’Armement, the international organization for cooperation on arms).

7th Borei class SSBN Emperor Alexander III will Join Russian Navy Pacific Fleet
 
The seventh Project 955 Borei-class (NATO reporting name: Dolgorukiy-class) nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN), Emperor Alexander III, was laid down by Russia’s major defense shipyard, Sevmash, in Severodvinsk, TASS reported from the keel laying ceremony. The SSBN will join the Pacific Fleet, Navy Deputy Commander-in-Chief for Armament Viktor Bursuk said on Friday.

Today, Airbus Helicopters delivered the first Swedish NH90 in full anti-submarine warfare (ASW) configuration to the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration FMV (Försvarets Materielverk). The fully-qualified rotorcraft has an entirely customized mission system including underwater sonar, tactical radar and high cabin for improved interior space.
