"This year the hulls of two corvettes of project 20380 will be completed. They are planned to be handed over to the Navy in 2018," it said.

The Northern Shipyard is currently building four corvettes. Besides Retivy and Strogy they are Gremyashchy and Provorny of project 20385. "The hull of Provorny will soon be completed," the press service said. Gremyashchy is expected to be floated in 2017 for test trials.

In the first quarter of 2016 the shipyard is expecting delivery of the main engines for Gremyashchy from Kolomna enterprise. "They will be supplied in the framework of import replacement program," the press service said. Initially the corvettes of the project had to be equipped with engines of the German MTU Company. At present the Almaz bureau which designed the project is adjusting it to the new serially-produced engines. Kolomna enterprise improved some operational characteristics and increased reliability.

The Russian Navy currently has four corvettes of project 20380 - Steregushchy, Soobrasitelny, Boiky and Stoiky. Another three corvettes are being built by Amur Shipyard. Keel-laying of new warships of the type is expected this year.

Corvettes of project 20380 have a displacement of 1800 tons, a length of over 100 meters and speed of up to 27 knots. They are designated to fight warships and submarines and support seaborne assault operations. The armaments of the corvettes comprise Uran anti-ship missile complex, Redut anti-aircraft missile complex, 100mm artillery complexes A-190 and 30mm AK-630. The warships are equipped with modern radars, radio-electronic and anti-submarine weapons. The corvette is capable of carrying a Ka-27PL helicopter.
