Raytheon AN/SPY-6(V) AMDR Should Be Available to US Allies Following IOC in 2023
 
At the Navy League’s 2015 Sea-Air-Space Exposition which was held last week near Washington DC, Kongsberg was showcasing some new Freedom class and Independence class LCS models fitted with eight Naval Strike Missiles (NSM) each. These two models illustrate Kongsberg's "Bolt On" solution to the US Navy new need of an Over The Horizon (OTH) Anti-Ship Missile (ASM) for the LCS/Frigate Surface Warfare Mission Package.
At the Navy League’s 2015 Sea-Air-Space Exposition which was held last week near Washington DC, Raytheon company was showcasing its Air and Missile Defense Radar (AMDR). AMDR is the future AN/SPY-6(V) radar to be fitted on U.S. Navy DDG 51 Flight III guided missile destroyers. Navy Recognition sat down with the AMDR program manager to learn more about this next generation radar.

A new era in autonomy and unmanned systems for naval operations is on the horizon, as officials at the Office of Naval Research (ONR) announced yesterday, April 14, during Sea-Air-Space 2015 exhibition, recent technology demonstrations of swarming unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) — part of the Low-Cost UAV Swarming Technology (LOCUST) program.

During Sea-Air-Space 2015, Textron Systems showcased its Fleet-Class Common Unmanned Surface Vehicle (CUSV). The CUSV is part of US Navy's Unmanned Influence Sweep System program, which is planned for the Mine Countermeasure (MCM) mission package dedicated to the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS).
During Sea-Air-Space 2015, Textron Systems Unmanned Systems showcased its Fleet-Class Common Unmanned Surface Vehicle (CUSV). Textron Expands Production on US Navy SSC Program with Latest Contract Option Award
 
During Sea-Air-Space 2015, Textron Systems Marine & Land Systems announced it has been awarded a $84,087,095 contract option from the U.S. Navy Naval Sea Systems Command for two next-generation Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) vehicles and associated technical manuals as part of the Ship-to-Shore Connector (SSC) program. Marine & Land Systems will assemble crafts 102 and 103 at its New Orleans Shipyard. Deliveries are expected in the fourth quarter of 2019.

It was made publich in February this year that the U.S. Navy would procure the Osprey to answer its future Carrier Onboard Delivery requirements. As of now, the U.S. Navy is planning on procuring 48 Ospreys.

Navy Recognition learned during Sea Air Space 2015 that Raytheon is to test a new multi-mode seeker for Tomahawk cruise missile. The flight test is key milestone on Tomahawk modernization path. Using company-funded independent research and development investment, Raytheon Company is preparing for a multi-mode seeker test designed for a Tomahawk Block IV cruise missile.

US Navy's Railgun to be test-fired at sea for the first time in late Summer 2016 from JHSV
 
The U.S. Navy announced today at Sea-Air-Space 2015 it will fire it’s first-ever Railgun at sea on the Eglin Air Force Base Maritime Test Range in late Summer of 2016 aboard JHSV 5, USNS Trenton. The test will fire a GPS-Guided Hypervelocity Projectile from a Railgun at a fixed over-the horizon target. Further, it will validate system performance models for a dynamic Railgun. US Navy selected the BAE Systems' solution to perform this first at-sea firing test.

A unique innovation is showcased on the Huntington Ingallls Industries (HII) booth at the Navy League’s 2015 Sea-Air-Space Exposition: The Proteus Dual Mode Underwater Vehicle (DUMV). Developed by Undersea Solution Group (which was acquired by HII in January this year), Batelle and Bluefin Robotics, the Proteus is the only underwater vehicle that has a dual capability: Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) and Swimmer Delivery Vehicle (SDV).

SAS 2015: DRS Technologies will upgrade US Navy and Royal Australian Navy submarines
 
DRS Technologies announced that it has won a U.S. Navy contract for the development, production and integration of electronic equipment for various classes of submarines. The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract has a potential value of more than $384 million. The announcement was made during Sea-Air-Space 2015 naval exhibition, held in National Harbor until April 15.

The SHARCs is based on Liquid Robotics' Wave Glider SV3, a unique wave and solar propelled 2 parts system (one on the surface, the other under water).

This fin, which generates 3D vectorel thrust through actuation of fin and fin rib stroke angles, has been integrated onto a man-portable, unmanned underwater vehicle called WANDA – Wrasse-inspired Agile Near-shore Deformable-fin Automaton.
