During the "Forum DGA Innovation", a symposium organized by DGA (the French defence procurement agency) focusing on defence innovation, a DGA engineer was showcasing its innovative FLIGHTEX non skid flight deck coating. Flight deck coatings are essential to ensure carrier operations at sea (launch, recovery and movement of aircraft on the deck). They require high performances and unique properties because of the mechanical and chemical stress they endure.

DCNS Launched the First GOWIND 2500 Corvette for the Egyptian Navy
 
On September 17 2016, DCNS launched the very first GOWIND 2500 corvette for the Egyptian Navy. The float out took place at the Lorient naval shipyard one day after the launch of FREMM Bretagne for the French Navy. First steel cut of the Egyptian Navy corvette took place on April 16 2015. The delivery of the vessel is set for 2017 (less than four years after the signature of the contract).

Exclusive: Pictures of the First LRASM Surface Launch Test at Sea
 
Navy Recognition obtained from Lockheed Martin some exclusive pictures showing the first Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) surface-launch test at sea. The pictures show the LRASM being launched from a Mk 41 vertical launch system (VLS). Lockheed Martin first issued a press release about this test in July this year.

Analysis: The Norwegian Navy under the 2017-2020 Long Term Defence Plan
 
The Norwegian Ministry of Defence has published its latest Long Term Defence Plan (LTDP) 2017-2020. The latest plan outlines Norway’s strategic priorities, the security environment and the naval force structure of the next five years. The country remains committed to NATO, considering it as the best way to deter external threats. An increased defence budget will provide the financial means to make short-term changes that will set the ground for the long-term investments.

Analysis: 3K22 and 3M22 Zircon, the Next Generation Hypersonic Missile of the Russian Navy
 
Work to create the latest 3K-22 multi-service missile complex armed with Tsirkon 3M-22 missiles and designed by NPO Mashinostroeniya Military-Industrial Corporation in the town of Reutov in Moscow region has been ongoing since 2011. The Military-Industrial Courier newspaper said the 3M-22 complex is armed with an anti-ship missile which is a continuation of heavy missiles Bazalt, Granit, and Onyx to destroy surface-going naval and ground targets at a distance of 300-400 kilometers.

These new generation frigates built by DCNS bring in new capabilities such as land attack cruise missiles and special forces support.
