Dimdex 2016 : Finmeccanica set to contribute to Qatar's naval programmes
 
Austal is preparing to deliver the latest variant of the company’s proven theatre support vessel platform, the High Speed Support Vessel (HSSV), to the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) in April 2016 - following successful acceptance trials in Western Australia.
At this year’s DIMDEX naval exhibition in Doha, Finmeccanica is demonstrating how it can offer its one company leadership in defence, security and aerospace to the nation of Qatar and the surrounding Gulf region. Finmeccanica welcomes visitors to its stand having recently announced that it has chosen “Leonardo” as its new name.
 

DIMDEX 2016: MBDA Signs a MoU to Supply Coastal Missile Systems to Qatar
 
MBDA has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the supply of a coastal defence system for the Qatar Emiri Naval Force (QENF). This Memorandum will pave the way in the short term for a contract with the value of 2.64 billion Qatari riyals (in the region of 640 million euros).

DIMDEX 2016: Austal Designed & Built T-EPF Forward Deployed To US Navy 5th Fleet In Bahrain
 
Austal has welcomed news that Expeditionary Fast Transport 2 (T-EPF-2), USNS Choctaw County, has been forward deployed to the US Navy 5th Fleet in Bahrain. The 103m USNS Choctaw County arrived in NSA Bahrain in February and is the first ship of its kind to operate in the US Navy’s Naval Forces Central Command area - which includes the Arabian Gulf, Gulf of Oman, North Arabian Sea, Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.

At the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference (DIMDEX 2016) currently underway in Qatar, Turkish shipyard Anadolu (ADIK) is showcasing its New Type Fast Patrol Vessel (NTPV). NTFPB is a steel deep V mono hull vessel. The superstructure is made of alluminum alloy to meet the speed, sea keeping and maneuverability requirements.

CAE demonstrates Naval Tactical Mission Trainer at DIMDEX 2016
 
CAE (Hall 4, Booth 205) is demonstrating its Naval Tactical Mission Trainer (TMT) at DIMDEX. The Naval TMT from CAE is part of a Naval Warfare Training System the company will be delivering to the Swedish Navy this summer, and will also be part of the recently announced Naval Training Centre that CAE will develop for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Navy.

DIMDEX 2016 opened with a €6.7 billion contract signing ceremony between Qatar and Rafale International (Dassault Aviation) for 24 Rafale fighter jets. Signing on behalf of Qatar was His Excellency Dr. Khalid Bin Mohamed Al-Attiyah Minister of State for Defence Affairs and behalf of France was French Minister of Defence Jean-Yves Le Drian.
