NAVDEX 2019 : Current showcased NN 2000 and NN 6000 series

At NAVDEX 2019, in the United Arab Emirates, Canada-based Current Scientific Corporation has showcased its new Night Navigator 2000 series and Night Navigator 6000 series. Current is a company specialised in the designing and the building of Night Navigator Electro-Optical Systems. Though, the company doesn't build the sensors that are integrated into its systems.

Current Scientific Corporation, based in Canada, is the manufacturer of the Night Navigator series of day and night vision camera systems installed worldwide on superyachts, workboats, high-speed craft, Coast Guard ships, fast patrol vessels and research vessels. In addition, Night Navigators are deployed internationally for coastal surveillance. Incorporating High-Resolution Thermal Imaging, Gated Image-Intensified HD Night vision, High-Definition Day Cameras and Laser-Gated Imaging, the Night Navigator series provides great vision for all marine applications.

Current Corporation continually invests in Night Navigator R&D to create and refine a diverse range of applications, including safety and security, environmental and conservation measures. These include anti-piracy, whale and whale spout detection, extreme weather search and rescue, and oil spill detection.

The Night Navigator™ 2000 Series is the most rugged, low maintenance, compact electro-optical system designed for paramilitary missions, commercial vessels and leisure craft alike. Mast mounted payload platform, this wide spectrum imaging system offers exceptional performance. It integrates an uncooled high resolution thermal imager (LWIR), a high definition day camera with the best low light sensitivity in a gyro-stabilized sensor platform with additional video stabilization. It can be controlled from the bridge of a ship or through IP network in a control room or remote location. This COTS system is built to MIL-Std. It exists in 2 variants, the Night Navigator 2515 (LWIR and HD Day/Low Light Camera) and the Night Navigator 2525 (LWIR, HD Day/Low Light Camera, 63° to 2.3° FoV in HD Mode and 47.8° to 1.7° in SD Mode).

The Night Navigator 6000 is the new, rugged, low maintenance, compact electro-optical system for smaller vessels. It integrates a full spectrum of sensors in a gyro-stabilized sensor platform. It can be controlled from the bridge of a ship or through IP network in a control room or remote location. This COTS system is designed to MIL Std. It exists in many variants including the Night Navigator 6025 (LWIR and Day/Low Light Camera), the Night Navigator 6050 (MWIR Cooled Thermal imager and Day/Low Light Camera), the Night Navigator 6425 (LWIR, Day/Low Light Camera, Laser Range Finder and Laser Dazzler) and the Night Navigator 6465 (MWIR, Day/Low Light Camera, Laser Range Finder, Laser Dazzler).

Both series can be fitted onto fast patrol boats, special ops vessels, coast guard vessels and even on Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs). Actually, Current's Night Navigator 6000 series was fitted on Al Seer Marine's Tamin USV during NAVDEX 2019, as shown on the image below. In addition to that, both series are able to resist to exterme weather conditions, down to -40°C (for icebreakers for example) and up to +55°C (as for the Al Seer Marine's USV scheduled to be operating in the Middle East region).
