Return of the EURONAVAL AWARDS for naval innovation
For this 2022 edition, the exhibition has renewed its EURONAVAL AWARDS for naval innovation, rewarding the most innovative industry exhibitors. Some thirty applications were submitted prior to the exhibition and examined by a jury of five experts (Alain Bovis, President of the Naval Academy, Christina MacKenzie, journalist, Antoine Tesquier, Innovation and Defence Agency, Frédéric Le Lidec, Director of R&D and Innovation at Naval Group and Antonio Uggini, Senior Executive Advisor at OCCAR).
Following this call for applications, ten submissions were selected on the basis of three criteria: innovation in the disruptive sense of the term, duality (civil/defence) and the environment. During the opening day of the exhibition, the five members of the jury visited the stands of the nominees and examined their innovations in detail to finalise their choices.
This Wednesday at noon, the four winners (ARKEOCEAN, OPTICS 11, THALES and ELWAVE for the GICAN prize) were presented with their respective prizes by Hugues d'Argentré, director of the EURONAVAL exhibition, Philippe Missoffe, GICAN's general delegate and Alain Bovis, president of the 2022 jury.
Further political and institutional visits
After hosting visits yesterday from the Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu, the Secretary of State for the Sea Hervé Berville and the Chief of Staff Thierry Burkhard, for this second day the EURONAVAL exhibition welcomed a delegation from the National Assembly's Defence Committee.
The Secretary General for Defence and National Security (SGDSN), Mr Stéphane Bouillon, was also present at the exhibition to meet major naval industrial players operating in the fields of security and national defence.
In the morning, the MEDEF defence committee also visited the exhibition to learn more about the industrial and social characteristics of the French naval industry.
Greece-France Forum for Maritime and Naval Cooperation
For the first time in its history EURONAVAL 2022 is delighted to welcome a national pavilion from the Hellenic Republic, with some fifteen exhibitors. This presence illustrates the importance of the links between the naval industries in Greece and France regarding major projects of sovereignty that both governments desire, and it reflects Greece's confidence in the world reference event that is EURONAVAL.
This Franco-Greek collaboration was also demonstrated by the organisation of a forum this Wednesday 19th October at the exhibition, dedicated to maritime and naval cooperation between the two countries. This forum was held in the presence of the chiefs of staff, the general directorates of armament and industrialists of both countries. This event was an opportunity to reassert the two countries' common vision for safeguarding maritime spaces.
