Russia' Third Project 11356 Frigate Admiral Makarov Started Dock Trials
 
The Project 11356 frigate Admiral Makarov built at the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad in west Russia started undergoing dock trials on March 31, shipyard spokesman Sergei Mikhailov told TASS on Friday. The Project 11356 frigate Admiral Makarov is the third vessel in the series being built for the Russian Navy by the Yantar Shipyard, the spokesman added.

According to him, the shipyard’s team for the ship’s handover comprising 130 persons and representatives of subcontractors are on board the vessel to carry out works to put the ship’s various systems and units into operation.

The frigate’s dock trials will last through June. After that, the vessel will start undergoing performance trials.

"The frigate is planned to be delivered to the Russian Navy in August 2016," Mikhailov said. The Project 11356 frigate has been developed by the Severnoye Design Bureau. The Project 11356 frigate Admiral Makarov was laid down on February 29, 2012 and put afloat on September 2, 2015.

The Project 11356 lead frigate Admiral Grigorovich joined the Russian Navy on March 11.

Project 11356 firgates are equipped with 100mm A-190 naval gun, Kalibr-NK (SS-N-27 Sizzler) cruise missiles, Shtil/Shtil-1 (SA-N-7 Gadfly/SA-N-7C Gollum) naval surface-to-air (SAM) systems, torpedoes and one Ka-27 (Helix) helicopter (optionally). Project 11356 frigate has a draft of 3620 t, a length of 124.8 m, a maximum speed of 30 kt and a range of 4850 nm.
