Rolls-Royce Completes Factory Acceptance Test for Type 26 Frigate First Gas Turbine
 
At a ceremony in Bristol the company marked the completion of a successful factory acceptance test for the first MT30 Gas Turbine for the Type 26 Global Combat Ship in the presence of the Minister for Defence Procurement Philip Dunne MP, and representatives of prime contractor BAE Systems.

Video: China's 4th Type 071 LPD Amphibious Vessel Yimeng Shan Commissioned
 
As announced, the fourth People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) Type 071 amphibious transport dock LPD Yimeng Shan (hull number 988) was commissioned February 1st 2016. Yimeng Shan was built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, a wholly owned subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC, the largest shipbuilding group in China) as was the case for the first three Type 071 vessels.

The second Project 11356M frigate (NATO reporting name: Krivak V-class) Admiral Essen built at the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad in west Russia for the Russian Navy has started undergoing state trials, Shipyard spokesman Sergei Mikhailov told TASS on Monday.

China Central Television news channel (CCTV 13) released a video showing the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) Type 056 Corvette (Jiangdao class) Quanzhou in a live fire excersise. The video is interesting as it shows a live launch of the HQ-10 close-in weapon system (CIWS) which is often compared to the American RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) system.

Royal Thai Navy Orders a Second BAE Systems 90 Metre Offshore Patrol Vessel
 
BAE Systems has signed a new contract with Bangkok Dock to assist in the licensed construction of a second 90 metre Offshore Patrol Vessel for the Royal Thai Navy. Under the agreement, BAE Systems will provide engineering support and advice during construction of the vessel in Thailand.
