This year marks the 30th anniversary of the development in Sweden by FMV of the Combat Boat 90. The latest version is Combat Boat 90HSM with high performance and increased capability. Six have been delivered to FMV and deliveries will be made to the Swedish Armed Forces before the turn of the year. A total of 18 new HSM will be built, and the final delivery will take place in 2020.

The Navy’s premier submarine hunters are much better prepared to defend Britain’s future flagships after a three-month workout in the USA. Merlin helicopters of 814 and 820 Naval Air Squadrons – based at RNAS Culdrose – joined new carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth and the frigate HMS Northumberland to form an invisible, impenetrable ring of steel around the task group on its deployment to the USA.

The Mexican Navy has recently completed Sea Acceptance Tests (SAT) for its multi-purpose frigate DAMEN SIGMA 10514, ARM Reformer (POLA 101). The tests were conducted from November 18 to December 18, 2019, off the coast of the southern Pacific states of Oaxaca and Guerrero, the Mexican Navy announced.

Ullmandynamics in collaboration with De Haas Maassluis (NL) has been working on an exciting project during the past year. On December 16 2019, they announced and presented, with some nice images, the large series of the Interceptor DHM1050 which are Class built with choices of high-grade materials to ensure durability and performance at all times.

Construction on the Navy’s future USNS Harvey Milk (T-AO 206) was marked by a ceremony held at the General Dynamics-National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (GD-NASSCO) shipyard, December 13 2019. Start of construction is the first major milestone in a shipbuilding program and represents that the first 100 tons of steel for the ship has been cut.

Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) 19, the future USS St. Louis, completed Acceptance Trials in Lake Michigan. Now that trials are complete, the ship will undergo final outfitting and fine-tuning before delivery. LCS 19 is the tenth Freedom-variant LCS designed and built by the Lockheed Martin-led industry team and is slated for delivery to the Navy early next year.

China's 2nd aircraft carrier, the country's first domestically built one, was named Shandong (hull 17) and was commissioned into the Chinese Navy on Tuesday. The new carrier entered service at the naval port in Sanya on the South China Sea island of Hainan. The ship bears the hull number 17.

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is conducting a series of demonstration flights using its MQ-9 Guardian Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA). The flights, being hosted by the Hellenic Air Force (HAF) and staged out of Larissa Air Base in Greece, showcase the maritime surveillance capabilities of the MQ-9, as well as the GA-ASI-developed Detect and Avoid (DAA) system.
