For the record, the two vessels were laid down in St Petersburg on July 20. During the official ceremony, Russian Minister for Trade and Industry Denis Manturov said that the frigates would be equipped with hypersonic weapons.

"Under the contract signed with the Defense Ministry, we are to deliver the Admiral Yumashev frigate in 2026 and the Admiral Spiridonov frigate a year later," Orlov said at the Army 2020 international military and technical forum.

"As for the Admiral Amelko and Admiral Chichagov frigates, work with suppliers is in progress, metal is being purchased and cut, sections are being assembled," the shipyard’s head said, speaking about the construction of the first two upgraded Project 22350 frigates.

The Severnaya Verf Shipyard laid down the first two frigates on April 23, 2019, and the second two on July 20, 2020. Unlike the baseline version, the upgraded frigates will have a bigger number of versatile launchers for Kalibr-NK (NATO reporting name: SS-N-27 Sizzler) and/or Oniks (SS-N-26 Strobile) cruise missiles.
