In May 2020, Navy Recognition has announced the launching of the Anping (CG 601), a 600-ton catamaran-hull patrol vessel that was ordered in 2019 by the Taiwanese Coast Guard Administration. The new ship is based on the design of Tuojiang-class stealth missile corvette in service with the Republic of China Navy (Taiwan). The Anping ship has been modified and optimized as a sea patrol vessel according to the requirements and mission characteristics of the Taiwanese Coast Guard.

The new CG 601 has a length of 65.4 meters. She has a cruising speed of 44 knots compared to 30 knots for a current 600-ton craft. The new vessel is fitted with high-pressure water cannon, a machine gun with automatic targets tracking system, and a multiple-launch rocket system that can track targets at night or in low visibility.

The ship will be used to littoral protection and fishing control rights in the southern waters. Apart from patrolling the coast, the corvette is able to conduct rescue missions and is responsible for protecting Taiwan's waters, including intercepting smugglers and chasing away trespassing Chinese boats, the CGA said.

According to the Taiwanese Coast Guard Administration (CGA), the ship is also capable of carrying the Hsiung Feng II anti-ship missile system and the Hsiung Feng III medium-range supersonic missile, both of which have been developed by the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology.

The Hsiung Feng III is a medium-range supersonic missile with the capability to destroy both land-based targets and naval targets developed by the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) in Taiwan. The missile is believed to have an operational range of 400 km with a possible maximum range of over 1,500 km and a minimum range of 30 km. It can be deployed on ships and mobile trailers.
