Zodiac Milpro delivers three Rigid Inflatable Boat to DGA


According to a tweet published by the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) on June 11, 2021, the French firm Zodiac Milipro delivered three Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) to the DGA for the French Navy. This delivery is a part of a contract signed in 2020 of 13 RIB, named EDO by the Navy.

Zodiac Milpro is a world leader in the manufacture of inflatable boats and RIBS for the military and professional market. Present in France, Spain, Canada, USA, Australia, UK, Italy, and Singapore, Zodiac Milpro has a team of 400 employees worldwide and delivers a turnover of 60m Euros.

The main characteristics of an EDO are a length of 7m, a width of 2,6 m, and a displacement full load of 3,4 tons. The boat can carry a total of 14 people including a crew and a response team. She can reach a maximum speed of 30 knots.

The first three boats will be deployed aboard the frigate La Fayette and the amphibious assault ship Mistral.

La Fayette is a second-line multi-mission stealth frigate of the French Navy (Marine Nationale). She is the second French vessel named after the 18th-century general Marquis de Lafayette. She is the lead ship of the class, which is also used by the Royal Saudi Navy.

The frigate is scheduled to complete a major life extension upgrade by 2023 and to remain in service until 2031.
