The vessels executed passing and communications exercises, and flight operations, with the Hamilton’s MH-65 Dolphin helicopter detachment aircrew. The U.S. Coast Guard is conducting a routine deployment in U.S. Sixth Fleet, working alongside Allies, building maritime domain awareness and sharing best practices with partner nation Navies and Coast Guards.
Hamilton is the fourth national security cutter and is the fifth named for the father of the U.S. Coast Guard – Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury and advocate for the creation of the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service.
U.S. Sixth Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
The Mărășești (F111) is a frigate currently serving with the Romanian Navy, The propulsion system is of the CODAD type. Four ALCO diesel produce 8 440 shp each, for a combined total of 33 760 shp driving 2 shafts.
The Mărășești is armed with four double launchers for P-15M (SS-N-2C) Anti-ship missiles, two single 213 mm (8.4 in) RBU-6000 ASW rocket launchers, two twin 76 mm (3.0 in) AK-726 guns, four single 30 mm (1.2 in) AK-630 CIWS (Close-In Weapon System) and two triple 533 mm torpedo tubes.
