According to information published by Global Times on August 26, 2022, the Shandong, the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy's second aircraft carrier and the first domestically built, recently held comprehensive drills in the South China Sea in a group consisting of full combat elements, which analysts said showed the carrier is becoming ready for far sea operations.

According to a PR published by the DARPA on August 22, 2022, the agency is moving into Phase 2 of the No Manning Required Ship (NOMARS) program, which seeks to build and demonstrate a revolutionary new medium unmanned surface vessel (MUSV) that can go to sea and perform missions with unprecedented reliability and availability, while carrying a significant payload. The agency selected Serco Inc.’s design to move forward at the conclusion of Phase 1.

According to information published by the Greek MoD on August 22, a PASSEX (Passing Exercise) of the frigate Kanaris and the Etna class replenishment oiler Prometheus with the Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) TNS Jugurtha was conducted in the wider maritime area north of the port of La Goulette, Tunisia.
