Admiral Flota Sovetskogo Soyuza Gorshkov is an Admiral Gorshkov class frigate of the Russian Navy and the lead ship of the class. She was laid down on 1 February 2006, launched on 29 October 2010 and was first expected to join the Russian Navy in November 2013.

The Admiral Gorshkov class is the successor to the Neustrashimyy and Krivak-class frigates. Unlike their Soviet-era predecessors, the new ships are designed for multiple roles. They are to be capable to execute long-range strikes, conduct anti-submarine warfare and to carry out escort missions.

Project 22350 frigates are typical ships of long-ships design, with a solid superstructure made using composite construction materials based on polyvinyl chloride and carbon fibers (composite materials provide reduction of the ship's secondary radar field through absorption and scattering of radio waves).

Displacement is standard - 4,500 tons. Full cruising speed is 29.5 knots. The cruising range is 4500 nautical miles at 14 knots. Autonomy of navigation on provisions - 30 days. Crew - 170-210 persons.

Initially, the frigate was to be equipped with a power plant manufactured by Ukraine's Zorya-Mashproekt. Due to the cooling of Russian-Ukrainian intergovernmental relations after the Euromaidan in Ukraine, in June 2014, the new Ukrainian President Poroshenko banned military-technical cooperation with Russia.

This ban also affected the Zorya-Mashproekt contract for the supply of gas turbines for Project 22350 frigates. A CODOG-type diesel-gas turbine power plant with a total capacity of 65,400 horsepower was selected.

Admiral Gorshkov is armed with one 130 mm Amethyst/Arsenal A-192M naval gun, 16 3S14 VLS (Vertical Launching System) cells able to launch Kalibr, Oniks or Zircon anti-ship cruise missiles, 32 Redut VLS cells for 9M96, 9M96M, 9M96D/9M96DM(M2) and/or quad-packed 9M100 surface-to-air missiles, two Palash CIWS (Close-In Weapon System), eight 330 mm torpedo tubes for Paket-NK anti-torpedo/anti-submarine torpedoes and two 14.5 mm MTPU pedestal machine guns.
