INS Visakhapatnam is the lead ship and the first of the Visakhapatnam-class stealth guided-missile destroyers of the Indian Navy. The ship, commissioned on 21 November 2021, is one of the largest destroyers in service with the Indian Navy.

The INS Visakhapatnam has a length of 163 m, a beam of 17.4 m, a draft of 6.5 m, and a displacement of 7,400 tones and can rightfully be regarded as one of the most potent warships to have been constructed in India.

The BrahMos is a medium-range ramjet supersonic cruise missile that can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft, or land platforms.

The Brahmos missile has a flight range of up to 290-km with supersonic speed all through the flight, leading to shorter flight time, consequently ensuring lower dispersion of targets, quicker engagement time, and non-interception by any known weapon system in the world.

Its cruising altitude could be up to 15 km and its terminal altitude is as low as 10 meters. The missile carries a conventional warhead weighing 200 to 300 kg.
