On September 21, 2022, a naval drone of an unknown type was discovered off the coast of Sevastopol.

The vehicle looked like a "kamikaze" type with a detonating warhead. It was a semi-submersible drone and its task is to stealthily approach the target with subsequent detonation. It is most likely controlled both manually using onboard TV cameras and via a satellite channel.

Although some people assimilated it to MANTAS T-Series Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV), and in particular to Mantas T1212, it was not the case. This drone is different to those already in service with any of the NATO countries

The Man-Portable Tactical Autonomous Systems (MANTAS) T-series of next-generation multi-role unmanned surface vessels (USVs) is developed by Maritime Tactical Systems (MARTEC). It is designed to serve the warfare mission requirements of navies across the globe.
