Türkiye set to officially receive amphibious assault ship TCG Anadolu

The construction of TCG Anadolu began on April 30, 2016, and the keel was laid on February 7, 2018. She will serve as a command center and flagship for the Turkish Navy while carrying out tasks such as sustaining long-endurance military combat or humanitarian relief operations.

TCG Anadolu is an Anadolu-class amphibious assault ship and V/STOL aircraft carrier. She has a displacement of 27,079 tons in the "amphibious assault ship" configuration and 24,660 tons in the "V/STOL aircraft carrier" configuration.

Her length is 232 meters, her beam is 32 meters, and her draught is 6.9 meters. The propulsion system consists of 5 Navantia Man Diesel Generators, 2 Siemens SiPOD, and 2 bow thrusters.

The ship has a maximum speed of 21 knots and a range of 9,000 nautical miles at 16 knots. Its complement includes 4 LCM or 2 LCAC. The ship is equipped with SMART-S Mk.2 S-band 3D radar, SPN-720 Naval Precision Approach Radar, GENESIS-ADVENT Combat Management System, IRST, IFF, TDL, VMF, SATCOM, LWR, DDS, and Torpedo Defense System.

Her armament includes 1 RAM, 2 Phalanx CIWS, and 5 Aselsan STOP RCWS. The ship can carry up to 4 T-129 ATAK, 8 As532 or CH-47F, and 2 S-70B Seahawk aircraft.

Additionally, she can carry up to 50 folding-winged Bayraktar TB3 UCAVs or Bayraktar Bayraktar Kızılelma UCAVs. The ship can be configured as a V/STOL aircraft carrier or an amphibious assault ship and has the ability to operate the F-35B or UCAVs such as Baykar Bayraktar TB3 or Baykar Bayraktar Kızılelma.
