The Kraken Active Towfish KATFISH is a cutting-edge underwater imaging system based on the Miniature Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Sonar (MINSAS) technology.

It offers exceptional area coverage rates, ultra-high-resolution seabed imagery, and 3D bathymetry. The system includes an intelligent towfish, Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) imaging, bathymetry and gap-filler sonars, launch and recovery system, operator console, and visualization/image processing software. The KATFISH system can be easily installed and removed from a variety of vessels, including manned or unmanned surface vehicles.

The core of the KATFISH system is the 180 cm AquaPix® MINSAS sensor arrays, which deliver impressive 3.3 cm x 3.0 cm constant resolution across ranges up to 200 meters per side. With tow speeds up to 10 knots and an integral gap-filler, KATFISH™ provides high-resolution area coverage rates (ACR) of 4 km2/hr.

KATFISH also features Kraken's latest generation Real-Time SAS processor, the RTSAS GPU, which allows for real-time processing of SAS imagery and bathymetry.

This enables operators to utilize Kraken's suite of post-processing tools, including the newly developed SASVIEW 3D visualization and sonar control software.

Designed to revolutionize hydrographic, pipeline, and mine countermeasure surveys, KATFISH offers unparalleled resolution and coverage rates, challenging the industry to rethink traditional methods. Its affordability and performance place KATFISH in a league of its own, providing SAS capability at a competitive cost.
