Russia plans to order six Project 22350 & 22350M frigates at Army 2023


According to information published by Tass on February 2, 2023, a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense for the construction of a series of six ocean-going frigates of projects 22350 and 22350M is planned to be signed at the "Army-2023" forum, it may be received by the Amur Shipyard.

The Amur Shipyard (ASZ, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC), which builds corvettes and small missile ships, is ready to start building a new series of six long-range ships of Project 22350 and the modernized version 22350M for the Pacific Fleet next year.

About the Project 22350

The Admiral Gorshkov class is a new class of frigates being built by Severnaya Verf in Saint Petersburg for the Russian Navy at a cost of $250 million each.

The Admiral Gorshkov-class frigate is a guided missile frigate with a displacement of 4,550 tons (standard) and 5,400 tons (full). She is 135 meters long and has a beam of 16 meters.

The vessel has a draft of 4.5 meters and is powered by a combined 65,400 shp propulsion system (2 diesel engines and 2 gas turbines). She can reach a top speed of 29.5 knots and has a range of 4,850 nautical miles at 14 knots.

The crew complement is 210 and she is equipped with various sensors, radars, sonars, navigation and communication systems, electronic warfare suite, and decoys.

The armament includes a 130mm naval gun, 16-32 VLS cells for Kalibr, Oniks, Zircon, and Otvet missiles, 2 CIWS, 2 torpedo tubes, 2 pedestal machine guns, and can carry a Ka-27 helicopter.
