The contract is managed by the Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, and the project is set for completion by December 2023.

In addition to the above, Raytheon Co. has been granted a $24.8 million modification to a previously sealed contract. This extension greenlights the procurement of two NGJ Mid-Band training pods - one for the U.S. Navy and one for the Australian government, along with NGJ-MB spares, and the provision of non-recurring engineering to support NGJ-MB's initial low-rate production.

The project, to be conducted in Forest, Mississippi, is projected to conclude by April 2026. Funds for this initiative - amounting to $7.3 million for fiscal year 2023, $10.9 million for fiscal year 2022, and a cooperative fund of $6.5 million from the Royal Australian Air Force - will be allocated at the time of the award, with no expiry at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, will oversee the contract activity.

NGJ Mid-Band

As an external carriage AEA capability for the EA-18G Growler, NGJ-MB focuses on the middle frequency bands of the electromagnetic spectrum. The system comprises two pods per shipset, as well as small hardware and software modifications to the EA-18G Growler aircraft to enable carriage, communication, and employment.
