The agreement was signed in Brasilia during an event to commemorate the Brazilian Navy Day, with the presence of high-ranking officials from both the UAE and Brazil.

Under this agreement, EDGE will contribute to the development of long-range anti-ship missiles and offer advanced solutions, such as UAE-developed anti-jamming technology.

The Brazilian Navy will facilitate comprehensive testing of these new missiles using its fleet. This collaboration not only emphasizes the shared vision of innovation between both parties but also potentially opens up avenues for exporting to key global markets.

Fleet Admiral José Augusto Vieira da Cunha de Menezes of the Brazilian Navy lauded the recent advancements in their national surface anti-ship missile program (MANSUP), attributing it to the support from the National Industry.

He highlighted that the partnership with EDGE would further consolidate their research, development, and innovation efforts, thereby enhancing the program's effectiveness and the Force's operational capabilities.

Since 2019, EDGE has emerged as a significant player in the global advanced technology and defence landscape. The company takes pride in its partnerships around the globe, aiming to augment defence capability development through technology transfer and skill sharing. It has recently extended its reach to Latin America by setting up a regional office in Brasilia.

About the MANSUP

The National Anti-Ship Missile (Míssil Antinavio Nacional), also known as AV-RE40, is an anti-ship missile project developed by Avibras, Mectron, Atech, and Omnisys for the Brazilian Navy. The project, worth US$75 million, is intended to perform comparably to the MBDA MM40 Exocet Block II.

The first missile prototype was fired from the Brazilian Navy corvette Barroso in November 2018. Subsequent launches were made in March and July 2019 by the frigate Independência (F44).

The fourth launch of MANSUP from the frigate Constituição (F42) took place on September 20, 2022, as part of the qualification campaign before the series-produced missiles.

The Navy conducted the fifth test launch of MANSUP on April 27, 2023. The Brazilian Navy plans to equip the Riachuelo-class SSKs, Álvaro Alberto-class SSNs, and Tamandaré-class frigates with MANSUP variants.
