Thai Krabi class OPV HTMS Prachuap Khiri Khan fires Harpoon missile


According to information published by Defense Studies on March 30, 2023, Royal Thai Navy's Krabi class Offshore Patrol Vessel HTMS Prachuap Khiri Khan has successfully live fire Boeing Harpoon Block 1C anti-ship missile.

The HTMS Prachuap Khiri Khan is the second Krabi Class offshore patrol vessel of the Royal Thai Navy, and it was built by Mahidol Adulyadej Naval Dockyard with design and technology transfer support from BAE Systems Surface Ships.

The vessel has been in active service since September 27, 2019, and is based at the Sattahip Naval Base. She has a displacement of 2,000 tons and measures 90.5 meters in length and 13.5 meters in beam.

The ship is powered by two MAN 16V28/33D diesel engines that can generate 14,700 kW/10,950 HP and drive two controllable-pitch propellers, enabling her to reach a speed of 23 knots (43 km/h) and travel up to 3,500 nautical miles (6,500 km) at that speed. The ship has an endurance of 14 days.

The HTMS Prachuap Khiri Khan is equipped with Thales Variant surveillance radar and Thales Lirod Mk2 fire control radar. She also has an armament consisting of four RGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missiles, one Oto Melara 76 mm gun, two 30mm MSI guns, and two machine guns. The ship can carry one H145M helicopter and has a 20-meter flight deck for this purpose.
