The steel plant responsible for manufacturing the ship's hull components was bombed by Russia itself. The plant is located in Kramatorsk, in eastern Ukraine.
The city was targeted by Russian missiles on May 5th, causing significant damage to the industrial complex. The Russian Ministry of Defense even boasted about this attack on a major Ukrainian ammunition depot.
About the Project 10510 icebreaker
Measuring 209 meters (686 feet) in length and with a beam of 47.7 meters (156 feet), it boasts a draft of 13 meters (43 feet) and a depth of 20.3 meters (67 feet).
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, this icebreaker features two RITM-400 nuclear reactors, each providing 315 MWt of thermal power. Additionally, the vessel houses four turbogenerators, each generating 37 MWe of electrical power.
The advanced nuclear-turbo-electric propulsion system consists of four shafts, each delivering 30 MW of power, enabling the icebreaker to reach speeds of up to 24 knots (44 km/h; 28 mph).
