The SeaSword III (Haegum-3), an advanced unmanned coastguard patrol boat developed by LIG Nex1, a South Korean defense contractor, has been showcased at the global exhibition UMEX in Abu Dhabi.

This unmanned vessel is designed for coastal security tasks and is equipped with surveillance and combat capabilities. It includes a remote shooting control system and a guided rocket launcher. The vessel operates autonomously using artificial intelligence and can function effectively even in adverse weather conditions, ensuring continuous surveillance.
In terms of combat capabilities, the Haegum-3 (also known as Sea Sword III) can be fitted with a 12.7mm heavy machine gun and an eight-cell guided-rocket launcher for 70mm rockets. The USV's design features a low radar cross-section monohull made of fiber-reinforced plastic, and it is powered by two diesel engines, enabling speeds over 35 knots.
The Haegum-3's successful trials were completed in June 2021, demonstrating its ability to perform in various operational scenarios, including surveillance and mine detection in maritime environments difficult for humans to access. These trials showcased the vessel's mapping, data fusion, and data creation capabilities through unmanned surface and underwater platforms.
