"The lead Admiral Gorshkov frigate is currently at the final stage of government acceptance tests. The delay with its handover to the fleet is caused by the Poliment-Redut antiaircraft complex. We hope the final test missile launches will be completed in December and the warship will become operational. We do not lose hope," he said.

The situation with the Admiral Kasatonov (the first serial produced Project 22350 frigate and second overhall) will clarify depending on Poliment-Redut test trials on the Admiral Gorshkov.

"All general systems and units of the warship have been accepted and there are no claims to the Severnaya verf. The delay is caused only by Almaz-Antey in connection with the above-mentioned system," Borisov said.

Head of the Navy shipbuilding department Vladimir Tryapichnikov earlier said the Russian Navy hopes to receive the Admiral Kasatonov in 2018.

Frigates of project 22350 have a displacement of close to 4450 tons and can develop a speed of up to 29 knots. They are armed with Onix and Kalibr missiles and the Poliment-Redut antiaircraft missile complex. The Russian Navy has to receive six frigates by 2025. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said the Admiral Gorshkov-class frigates will in future become the main fighting warships of the Russian Navy.

Navy Recognition comment:
Almaz-Antey aerospace defense group Designer General Pavel Sozinov said earlier this year that Russia’s Poliment-Redut seaborne missile system will be armed with three types of missiles unified with the S-350 Vityaz ground-based air defense system.

This is not the first delay affecting the frigate. Admiral Gorshkov was laid down in early 2006 and launched in the autumn of 2010. The ship started undergoing trials in November 2014. The "final stage" of its state tests began on March 20, 2017.
