"The pilot project was the Khabarovsk nuclear-powered submarine. She is being developed as a carrier of naval robotized systems designed for surveying the ocean bottom, monitoring the continental shelf and securing and defending friendly naval forces. In addition, Sevmash’s designers have developed and introduced software programs used for devising the construction documentation of the ship," the press office says in a news release.

Sevmash Chief Designer Yuri Spiridonov explained that the up-to-date technologies have boosted the quality and speed and slashed the labor-output ratio of the work.

Sevmash laid down the Project 09851 Khabarovsk special-purpose submarine on July 27 2014. According to open sources, the Project 09851 submarine technical support work is due to be completed by 2020.
