DCNS successfully achieves a European 1st: the coordinated deployment of 3 types of drone
In the context of its Naval Innovation Days, DCNS has successfully achieved the coordinated deployment of three types of drone, underwater, airborne and surface, thanks to its I4®Drones mission system. It is the first time in Europe that a company has organised and implemented such a successful end-to-end performance. During this demonstration, it was possible to detect a suspect vessel, which was identified and neutralised in less than twenty minutes.

Russia to resume the construction of the "last three" Project 11356 frigates in 2018 The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) will resume the construction of the last three Project 11356 frigates in 2018. Earlier, the construction of these ships was suspended due to Kiev's refusal to supply gas turbine power plants. The decision to resume the work was made following the preliminary testing of the latest Russian gas turbine units M70FRU and M90FR. According to experts, the advent of these ships will significantly expand the Navy’s capabilities in the Mediterranean Sea, the Central and North Atlantic, and the Arctic zone, the newspaper Izvestia writes.

The final Nulka missile decoy was delivered to the Royal Australian Navy by BAE Systems in April after three decades of service to Australia, the United States and Canada. Once launched, Nulka can fly a pre-programmed flight path to entice sea-skimming missiles away from a ship. It has a unique design in that it hovers in mid air while seducing the incoming anti-ship missile.

On May 30, 2017, the 'Admiral Essen' Project 11356 frigate and the 'Krasnodar' Project 636.3 diesel-electric submarine conducted four launches of the 3M-14 Kalibr sea-launched cruise missiles (SLCM) from the Mediterranean Sea against the objects of the Islamic State (IS, forbidden in Russia) terroristic grouping near Palmira. The assigned targets were hit, according to Russia`s Ministry of Defense (MoD).
