IMDS 2019: Aleksandrit-ISPUM-E anti-mine USV 1st time presented

The newest Aleksandrit-ISPUM-E underwater drone (code Aleksandrit) designed to provide anti-mine defense for project 12700 minesweepers has been demonstrated at the Ninth International Maritime Defense Show (IMDS-2019) in St. Petersburg for the first time, TASS said.

According to its developer, GNPP Region (an affiliate of the Tactical Missiles Corporation) the new integrated system of searching for and destroying mines is designed to deal with sea mines at depths of up to 300 meters. It comprises a remotely operated drone capable of detecting, towing and destroying underwater facilities, including sea mines of various types. Aleksandrit-ISPUM-E can be used at sea with the fall of the waves measuring up to 3 points.

"The craft can be controlled at a distance of up to 500 meters," a representative of the Tactical Missiles Corporation (KTRV), said during IMDS-2019.

Earlier, GNPP Region’s Director General Igor Krylov told TASS that all the six project 12700 minesweepers would be fitted out with Aleksandrit-ISPUM. Underwater drones may also be installed on minesweepers, which are undergoing modernization.
