President Putin was briefed on various models of ships, weapons, and other technical equipment, emphasizing the development plans for Arctic zone monitoring vessels, corvettes for sea and ocean operations, near-sea zone ships, and mine defense systems.
Moreover, the state head was introduced to a project involving a software and hardware complex for logistical support of ships. This initiative aims to maintain a specified level of technical readiness.
He was also informed about the latest developments in unmanned and manned aircraft, particularly those capable of hybrid propulsion and capable of vertical take-off and landing on ship decks. Earlier that day, President Putin had observed joint exercises of the Northern and Black Sea Fleets off the coast of Crimea.
Russian new aircraft carrier project
The Project 11430E (Lamantin) is a Russian naval initiative, developed by the Nevskoye Design Bureau, a part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation. This project was first introduced at the IX International Maritime Defence Show in St. Petersburg in 2019.
The design represents an evolution in Russian naval architecture, with the aim of creating a multipurpose heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser that could potentially function as a full-scale aircraft carrier.
Influenced by earlier projects such as the Project 1143.7 (Ulyanovsk), the Lamantin is intended to support and operate a variety of naval aircraft, addressing a range of naval operational needs.
Its capabilities are focused on engaging different types of threats, including those from air, sea, and land. Additionally, it is designed to provide defense for naval groups and marine troops against air assaults.
The design of the Lamantin incorporates a nuclear power plant and is equipped to carry multiple aircraft types, including fighters and radar detection planes. The inclusion of advanced launch and recovery systems is a key aspect of its design.
