South Korean Navy takes delivery of third KDX-III class Aegis destroyer
 
ROK (Republic of Korea) Navy took delivery of its third Aegis-equipped destroyer from the country's Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) on August 30 2012. South Korea launched the KDX-III program in 2004 to bolster its defense against North Korea. The first ship of the Sejong the Great ship class, was commissioned in December 2008 and the second ship of the class (Yulgok Yi I) was commissioned in August 2010.

This method results in a structure that has increased strength, but also offers the benefits of lower operating, maintenance, and lifecycle costs.

BAE Systems recently received a contract award for more than $20 million to supply two 57mm Mk 110 MOD 0 guns and engineering support to the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard. The naval gun systems will be delivered to the fifth National Security Cutter for the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy’s training facility in Dam Neck, Virginia where sailors will benefit from Mk 110 operations and maintenance training.

Russia to Lay Down New Improved Kilo (Project 636) Diesel Sub for Black Sea Fleet
 
The Admiralty Shipyard in St. Petersburg will lay down on Friday a new Varshavyanka class diesel-electric submarine for Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, the company said. Stary Oskol will be the third in a series of six Varshavyanka class submarines which are expected to join the fleet by 2016. The first sub, the Novorossiisk, was laid down in August 2010, followed by Rostov-on-Don in November 2011.

Cassidian, the defence and security division of EADS, will equip the new Offshore Patrol Vessel of the Finnish Border Guard with its proven TRS-3D naval radar. The STX Shipyard in Rauma/Finland has awarded Cassidian a contract to deliver the radar by mid-2013 for integration into the new ship.

Defence and security company Saab has received an order from its German partner Diehl BGT for the Surface-to-Surface Missile RBS15 Mk3.The order value is SEK 168 million, and includes options with a total value of SEK 83 million. Deliveries will take place during the period 2014 to 2016.
